The North African city of Carthage, founded by the Phonecians, grew to be a major superpower in the western Mediterranean during the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. The naval and trade superiority brought the Carthaginians into conflict with the Roman Republic, culminating in the Punic Wars, made famous by Hannibal and his Elephants in the second Punic War. Eventually annihilated by the Romans in 146 BC, the Carthaginians faded from history. This set allows for games set during the Roman Republic and the Punic Wars, although the figures can easily be used for any Ancient-era North African game. Heavily reliant on Iberian, Libyan and Numidian mercenaries, the only Carthaginian units were the Sacred Bands of heavy infantry and cavalry. Essential for any ancients RPG or wargame.
The 28mm scale full color miniatures are supplied in two formats and can be assembled as flat, A-frame, or triagonal miniatures depending on personal choice. The images are all high-quality computer generated figures and bring an extra level of realism to the gaming table. Some miniatures are duplicated to make optimum use of each page.
This set is also offered as an optional PowerPoint file version, to allow the easy creation of custom sheets.
Note: To help keep the size of the download to a minimum, construction instructions are not included in this set.
